Summer Free For All - Survey for Summer 2022

Despite numerous challenges this past summer, Summer Free For All was still able to bring hope, creativity, and joy to our parks across the city. We produced close to 60 pop-up performances and provided crucial support to over 100 local musicians, performers, and artists.

While the pandemic posed numerous logistical challenges and necessary restraints on producing larger events and gatherings, it also allowed our team to innovate and re-examine what community-focused events could look like.

Here’s What We Learned During the Summer 2021 Season:

  • Audiences loved the exposure to genres of entertainment beyond our traditional movies and concerts offerings: circus arts, comedy, deejaying, experimental dance and movement, live performance art, and spoken word.

  • In lieu of large-scale outdoor events, performers and audience members appreciated our ability and commitment to produce smaller pop-up concerts and performances throughout city parks.

  • By producing smaller events, we were able to bring performances to parks that had never seen a Summer Free For All event before. This allowed us to connect with communities and neighborhoods that had not been served by our program in the past.

Summer Free For All is committed to building community through free, inclusive, and family-friendly activities that celebrate Portland’s diverse cultures and local artists. As we begin to reimagine programming for Summer 2022, we’re looking forward to reconnecting and hearing your thoughts and hopes for next summer.
