WHO:

S.E.E.D. is one of several organizations that received an investment from the City of Portland to bolster efforts aimed at addressing factors that perpetuate cycles of violence and trauma in communities most impacted by gun violence.

HER Market is organized by S.E.E.D., an organization launched in September by founder and longtime Portlander Ericka Elliott.

“I founded S.E.E.D. to create opportunities for connection and growth for young women in our community. I want them to know there are people who care and a community that is here to support them,” says founder Ericka Elliott. “I also know that seeing is believing. With Her Market, the vision is to encourage and uplift young women to dream.”

WHEN:

Saturday, October 22, 2022

1:00 – 5:00pm

WHERE:

T.E.A.M. Center

115 SE 9th Ave

Portland, OR 97214

WHY:

S.E.E.D. is an organization designed to connect young women with trauma-informed support and guidance to build a better future for themselves. Most of the young women served by the organization experience pain and trauma connected to violence and/or abuse. Recognizing the healing potential that comes from caring and connection, S.E.E.D. seeks to provide young women opportunities to dream and excel.

Research shows that role models have an increased benefit for women who experience bias, systemic and institutional barriers, and negative stereotypes. Launched on the belief that seeing is believing, HER Market spotlights BIPOC female entrepreneurs who represent what’s possible and inspire young women to see a brighter future. Offering encouragement and hope is a powerful step to support their healing.
