$200 Compensation! Police Accountability Commission Needs Your Input!

Community Input Needed from Portlanders!

In 2020, Portlanders overwhelmingly passed a ballot measure which created the Police Accountability Commission. The Police Accountability Commission is a group of 20 community volunteers working since December of 2021 to create a new police oversight system for the City of Portland, which will be presented to City Council in September.

The Police Accountability Commission has drafted documents that detail the new proposed system and would like feedback from groups within the community on what may need to be addressed, added, or changed. We welcome your honest feedback and would like to invite you to participate in a discussion group. These small groups will meet virtually and will be presented with an overview of the system, asked questions, and invited to provide feedback on the proposed system. Next, the feedback will be drafted into a report which will be shared with the Police Accountability Commission for them to consider for potential revisions in their last phase of work.

Police Accountability Commission Survey - Name of Oversight Board and Bureau

The Police Accountability Commission (PAC) is in the process of creating recommendations to the City Council that will create a community police oversight board. This board was approved by the voters in November 2020, along with broad descriptions. The PAC is developing details for the new system which will be implemented following approval of the PAC's recommendations by the City Council.

This survey will help the PAC name the oversight board, and the unit of City staff which reports to it.
