For the first time, the Williams Vancouver Business District will participate in the Winter Lights Festival as a district. Come see the lighted sculptures and light installations happening in at least 10 different businesses around the district.
Have even more fun at two parties the WVBA is hosting on Wednesday Feb. 12 from 5-9pm.
Lights on Williams: 5-7 pm at 4038 N. Williams Avenue (in the lot where Pepe’s Chile Taqueria is located). We’ll officially celebrate the installation of two light sculptures there, created by Travis Pond, and ten light lanterns, created by Scott Loader and placed in six local businesses. These sculptures were commissioned and paid for by the WVBA and gifted to the district. Meet the artists, get a cocktail from Pepe’s and dance to dj mixes outside from the party bus.
Lights on Vancouver goes from 7-9 pm at Flow in the City Yoga, 3956 N. Vancouver Avenue, where you’ll see an interactive light display, meet the artist for a brief artist talk, and then flow into more dancing – indoors this time – with a DJ.
Artist Travis Pond displays one of two light sculptures he was commissioned and paid by the WVBA to build and gift to the Williams Vancouver Business District. Pond uses all recycled materials for his sculptures, and the subject – a saxophone – is intended to honor the district’s past as a vibrant live jazz community. It will sit at 4038 N. Williams Avenue, next to Pepe’s Chile Taqueria.
